Hey everyone, if you're reading this, you're likely getting an error message on your phone - something about VOIP? What is VOIP?!
VOIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. It is basically a way for people to communicate with other people using the Internet, instead of a telecommunications service carrier (such as Verizon or T-Mobile).
Prior to April 21, 2022, VOIP numbers were allowed on our app. As long as it was a valid phone number that could receive messages from us, it was good to go. However, over the last several months, our internal tech team has been running various tests and investigating multiple scenarios of fraud. They came to the conclusion that VOIP numbers are often a factor when spotting fraudulent activity in our app.
Out of an abundance of caution, on April 21, we have blocked all VOIP numbers from being able to request advances.
That being said, we currently don't have the option to change phone numbers in our app. We also have never allowed duplicate accounts with the same information, or the same bank account linked to two different Klover accounts. In other words, our legitimate customers who happen to use a VOIP number in our app are stuck until further notice.
From the entire Customer Experience department, we are so sorry for the inconvenience this has caused some of our loyal customers. We are doing everything we can on our end to figure out a way around this, while still keeping our app a safe platform.
