What does it mean to use points for an advance?
In some situations, the app may offer you the option to use points to access an advance. Using points can help you:
- Unlock an advance when your eligible amount is temporarily lower, or
- Increase the advance amount you’re eligible to take, or
- Be used to pay down the instant transport fee on your advance
Using points is always optional.
When will I see the option to use points?
You’ll only see point-based advance options when:
- A point-based advance is available in the app
- Your bank connection is active, and
- You do not have an outstanding advance
If those conditions are met, you can choose whether or not to use points.
How do I earn points?
You can earn points by completing activities in the app, such as:
- Tasks
- Offers
- Games
- Other in-app activities
Once earned, points stay available for up to one year after your last point activity date, and can be used anytime a point-based advance option appears or when you take an advance to be used to lower the transport fee.
Can I change the amount of a point-based advance after I take it?
No. Once you take a point-based advance, the amount cannot be changed or adjusted.
This applies to everyone — including Customer Support. The selected amount will remain the same until the advance is fully repaid.
Do points pay for the advance?
No. Points can either unlock access to an advance or help pay the delivery fee associated with an immediate debit transaction for an advance— they do not replace repayment.
Points may help you qualify for an advance if your eligibility is temporarily affected by:
- Missing or delayed paycheck data
- Bank connection issues
- Eligibility requirements
- Short-term changes to your advance amount
Even when points are used, the advance amount taken must still be repaid on the scheduled repayment date shown to you at checkout, just like any other advance.
What if I don’t have enough points?
If you don’t currently have enough points to unlock your usual advance amount, the best option is often to wait.
As your paycheck finishes posting and your bank sends updated information, your eligibility may increase automatically. Some customers see their regular advance amount return without using points, though this can vary.
If you don’t want to wait, you also have the option to earn more points by participating in available offers in the app. Completing an offer may allow you to earn enough points to unlock an advance sooner.
Points from offers are typically awarded within a certain timeframe, which can vary depending on the type of offer you complete. For more details on how offers work and when points are credited, please see our Help Center article on offers.(will link here)
You should also make sure you’re using the latest version of the app. Updating can sometimes resolve temporary connection issues between our servers and your bank.
